Dr. Terry Wahls

I have known about Dr. Terry Wahls and her amazing story for a number of years. Two years ago, I wrote a blog post about her here. In this lecture, in her life, Dr. Wahls presents a "possibility" - she presents something specific that we can do. These ideas are not necessarily new, which is another strength to her proposition. Some things need repeating, and Dr. Wahls does an excellent job.

Many of the posts that I write covering research and treatments for ME/CFS are "abstractions". They are either in the future, just outside of our reach, or perhaps do not meet our requirements. Dr. Wahls presents something different, something on which we can get our grasp. These nutritional ideas are firmly rooted in scientific inquiry.

It is painfully obvious that ME/CFS involves some level of mitochondrial dysfunction. There is no question that mitochondria can be influenced by various factors.

Dr. Terry Wahls does an excellent job in advancing her ideas, born out of her own experience, in the following video.

  1. Good talk; many take-home points to inspire the "healthy" and the chronically ill. Dr. Wahls is a dramatic case study. I will be sharing this with many friends. As always, thank you for finding, introducing/summarizing and posting such good material.

  2. The book 'Live Right 4 Your Type' (2001) by Peter D'Adamo, N.D. is an amazing resource for optimizing diet (and exercise) based on your blood type (O,A,B,AB). He lists a wide variety of foods and labels them beneficial, neutral, or avoid for each type. He also discusses secretor status, and it makes you wonder how many in the ME community are non-secretors.

D'Adamo was consulted by the Human Genome Project. His more recent 2007 book 'The GenoType Diet - Change your genetic destiny to live the longest, fullest, and healthiest life possible' was born out of his work on HGP and goes even farther than his earlier work.

  3. I have heard that Olive Leaf extract can improve CFS and FM in only one month`s time - this due to its anti-viral properties. But it does lower blood pressure... so read on!

  4. p.s. I have numerous contacts who have improved their health with Olive Leaf Extract - it mops up low lying viruses!!! And... herbs go through cycles of being known and unknown - popular and not even heard of. I had only seen this referenced in ONE herbal book and I have read many. I know quite a few people who have been helped by this herb. Best regards.

  5. Have you heard of Dr. Paul St. Amand's guaifenesin protocol? This may be of interest.

  7. Or don't get one at all, which is probably the best option of all.
